family therapist in your area, provides guidelines for
choosing a family therapist, and contains information
about a variety of family issues.

This free brochure published by the Young Lawyers
Section of the Missouri Bar contains useful information
about legal issues related to domestic violence. It is

Family Mental Health Crisis Line, 1-800-833-3915. This hotline
provides crisis counseling and resources for victims of
domestic violence and others.
Missouri Legal Aid Offices,
http://www.lsmo.org. Legal aid offices often provide
low cost or free services to individuals in domestic
violence situations. See the map on their website to
find information about the office that is nearest to
you.
National Domestic Violence Hotline, 1-800-799-SAFE. This hotline
provides 24 hour crisis intervention counseling and
resources for victims of domestic violence.

questions about any parenting situation; check out
books, videos, or other resources about parenting.
The Shelter, (573) 875-1369. The Shelter provides a safe place
to live for female victims of domestic violence and
their children, as well as food, clothing, counseling
and referral services.
Supporting Others in Non-Violence, (573) 449-2581. SON provides
counseling for those wishing to eliminate violence from
their relationships. Men and women receive counseling
separately.
University of Missouri Domestic Violence Clinic, (573) 882-7872. The UMC Domestic Violence Clinic provides legal assistance to victims of domestic violence. Third year law students work in a supervised setting to represent clients in court as they obtain orders of protection.
