Connecting For Baby is an exciting program designed to help
young, low-income, unmarried couples improve their ability to
build a healthy relationship with each other. This Healthy
Marriage demonstration project is funded by the Department of
Health and Human Services, Administration For Children and
Families and delivered by the University of Missouri HES
Extension Department of Human Development and Family Studies.
Connecting For Baby works with existing programs statewide to
help young couples develop skills to form a healthy marriage.
Connecting For Baby includes:
- 11 monthly educational sessions on topics such as conflict resolution, finances, positive discipline, and having fun together
- An all-expenses-paid weekend couples' retreat based on the Love's Cradle relationship enhancement curriculum
- Tool kits with healthy relationship materials for use by couples and professionals
- Radio and television spots to raise awareness about healthy marriage
- Gift card incentives for couples who participate

Connecting For Baby (CFB) is currently available in the Kansas City, Columbia, Jefferson City, Boonville, St. Charles, St. Roberts, Springfield/Branson, Macon and Moberly areas. The program will expand in 2009 to include St. Louis, Ozark and Rolla areas. Over the next three years, Connecting For Baby will be offered by participating regional Extension Human Development Specialists and CFB staff throughout Missouri who will work with community partners in their area to promote and deliver the Connecting For Baby program.
