Families and
Divorce
This program is for teachers, childcare providers, and others working
with children. Families and Divorce provides in-service training
for professionals on children's responses to divorce and remarriage at
different developmental stages and what professionals can do to support
children and their families through the processes of divorce and
stepfamily formation. A two-hour workshop or a two-session series is
available. Contact schrammdg@missouri.edu for more information.
Step by Step:
Creating Strong Stepfamilies
Step by Step is for couples with children from previous
relationships. The three-session program focuses on the following topics:
What Every Stepfamily Needs to Know (stages of stepfamily development,
myths vs. realities of stepfamilies, building strong couple
relationships), Stepparent-Stepchild Relationships, and Financial and
Legal Issues. Communication skills are emphasized throughout the program.

Focus on Kids Program for Divorcing Adults
This is a workshop to help parents learn how to nurture and support their children through the divorce process and to help parents who are living apart develop ways to effectively work together as co-parents. Focus on Kids satisfies the Missouri law that requires parents who are divorcing or filing a motion to modify to attend an educational parenting program. It is conducted in cooperation with Missouri’s circuit courts. See the Focus on Kids Program Schedule for dates, times, fees and contact information. The Focus on Kids Online program is also now available for parents who are not able to attend classes in person.
Students In the MiddleŽ
