MU Extension programs, workshops, classes, newsletters, resources and events



Chronic Disease Self-Management (CDSM)

Program to assist participants with maintaining an active and fulfilling life when faced with chronic medical conditions. Search the MU Extension calendar for CDSM classes in your area.

 

Diabetes Self-Management (DSM)

Program to assist participants with managing type 2 diabetes. Search the MU Extension calendar for DSM classes in your area.

 

Jump Into Action

A team-taught, school-based program to help fifth-grade students make healthy food choices and be more physically active.

 

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy

An 8-week strength-training program for older adults. Participants will increase their physical activity and may improve strength, balance and flexibility, resulting in reduced risk for falls, better overall health and greater independence.

 

Advanced Stay Strong, Stay Healthy

A follow-up program that builds on the fitness base acquired from Stay Strong, Stay Healthy by adding new and more complex exercises. Advanced SSSH is designed to challenge older adults in new and different ways, to help avoid staleness and plateaus, and to improve activities of daily living.

 

Taking Care of You: Body, Mind, Spirit
A multi-session program offering practical strategies and experiences to help you deal with the stress in your life. Managing life’s challenges in a healthy way allows you to take better care of yourself and your overall health.

 

WorkWell Missouri Toolkit
Worksite wellness refers to the education and interventions that an employer uses to promote healthy lifestyles to employees. The WorkWell Missouri Toolkit is designed to help your organization assess and improve the wellness policies and practices in your workplace.

 

Missouri Council for Activity & Nutrition (MOCAN)

A coalition comprised of individuals and representatives from statewide and local agencies, institutions and organizations who work together to advance the goals and objectives of the statewide plan to prevent obesity and other chronic diseases.

 

Healthy Lifestyle Initiative
With the goal of promoting and maintaining the lifelong health of all Missourians, MU Extension partners with communities to make sustainable changes that will increase access to healthy, affordable food and safe, accessible physical activity. A holistic community focus will result in a long-term, replicable model that makes the healthy choice the easy choice.
