What can you do in your community to
deal with dating violence?
Suggest to your teen's school officials or a teacher that you would like the school to have programs about dating violence. Volunteer to arrange or help out at the programs. Encourage school personnel to talk openly about violence issues. Ask to have school counselors do screening for dating violence each time a teen meets with them. Studies show that often times abuse victims will not discuss the abuse unless they are asked about it several times at different visits.
