What are some safety tips for using an ATM?
ATMs are becoming more and more popular, and it’s easy to
see why. It is a simple, quick and handy way to do your
banking. Unfortunately, bank customers aren’t the only ones
who see ATMs as a great opportunity. While 24-hour banking
is definitely convenient, it is important to use common
sense when using the machines at odd hours when there aren’t
many people around.
Try these tips to help make your banking experience
safer:
- Stay alert, and if possible, have someone go with you.
- Be prepared by having deposit forms and your card
ready before you get to the ATM. Once your transaction is
complete, pocket your money and card immediately.
- When using drive-up ATMs, keep your doors locked,
passenger and rear windows up, and keep the engine
running.
- Protect your privacy by positioning yourself in front
of the ATM, and shield the key-board while entering your
PIN.
- Save your receipts. Don’t leave them at the ATM.
- Report lost or stolen cards immediately.
