If I buy a car from a private party
rather than a dealer, does the Used Car Rule enforced by the
Federal Trade Commission still apply?
No. The Used Car Rule requires used car dealers to post a
Buyers Guide detailing warranty and other important
information on the used cars they sell.
Generally sales from private parties are not covered under the same laws as dealers. Therefore, be especially careful when buying a vehicle from a private party.
