Quick Answers
I recently bought a pressure canner with a weighted gauge. I think something is wrong with the gauge because it won't jiggle even after I vent it for ten minutes. Could it be broken?
Weighted gauges are quite sturdy and usually do not need
replacement unless severe damage has occurred. Before
contacting the manufacturer try this hint: The problem
may not be the canner at all, but an uneven burner
surface on the range you are using. Try another burner
or even another range. An even surface is necessary for
the weighted gauge to seat properly and jiggle.
