My home-canned foods were covered by flood water. How can I clean them?
Home-canned foods in glass jars are not safe. The food should be destroyed and the flat (lid) should be discarded. The empty jars and rings should be sterilized as follows:
-Wash in soapy water.
-Cover completely with a chlorine solution of household bleach (5.25%). Use one tablespoon per gallon of water.
-Rinse well in clear water.
-Cover with water and boil vigorously for ten minutes.
