I canned green beans in a water bath canner. Won't any toxin be destroyed if I boil them for 10 minutes before serving?
We cannot recommend that improperly canned food of any type be eaten. There are many reasons why improperly canned food should be destroyed. What if:
- these foods get mixed in with others and do not get boiled a full 10-20 minutes before eating?
- a child cooks dinner or opens a jar of this food for a snack?
- this food is given away as a gift, or to a church bazaar or a church supper?
These are just a few reasons why improperly canned foods should not be kept on the shelf.
