I sometimes find hard white deposits in my home-canned pureed tomato products. Is this a sign of spoilage?
These deposits, which resemble fish scales, are commonly found in home-canned mashed or pureed tomato products. If the products were canned by a safe method and show no other signs of spoilage, they are safe to eat.
