Quick Answers

Can you dry foods in the microwave?

Microwave ovens are not currently recommended for drying food. Because foods do not dry evenly, there is a chance of mold growth. Also, there is very little circulating air in a microwave, a definite requirement for successful drying of food. There is also a possibility of damage to the magnetron tube. Small amounts of herbs may be dried in the microwave oven along with a small container of water.
