I made strawberry jam, following all the directions in the pectin package. It came out runny.


A very wet growing season can produce fruit that is very high in water. This could result in a weak gel formation. Strawberries are especially affected by heavy rains. It's also best to leave caps on strawberries while washing them to prevent excessive water from soaking into the berry. Also, don't allow strawberries to soak in water.
