Is it alright to make pickles with the extra slicing cucumbers I have in my garden?
Slicing varieties of cucumbers do not contain enough sugar for proper fermentation to occur and often produce a softer pickle. For this reason it is best not to use them for fermented (brined) pickles. It is alright to use them for fresh pack pickles.
