What kind of salt should I use for pickling?

Use canning or pickling salt. Non-caking material added to other salts may make the brine cloudy. Since flake salt varies in density, it is not recommended for making pickles. Never use coarse, kosher, dairy, or sea salt in making pickles because changes in the quality of the pickles may occur. Never use rock, ice cream, or sidewalk salt because they are not food-grade.
