Quick Answers

What kind of vinegar should I use for pickling?

White distilled and cider vinegars of 5 percent acidity (50 grain) are recommended. Vinegar of unknown acidity should not be used. Homemade vinegar falls into this category. If a light colored product is preferred, use white vinegar.
