Can eggs be pickled safely?

Pickled eggs should be stored in the refrigerator in the pickling solution. There is no scientifically determined time for heat processing pickled eggs so that they can be safely kept on the shelf. Also, the heat treatment necessary to make pickled eggs safe would cause the eggs to toughen.
