How do you roast a turkey?
Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan and cook in
a 325°F oven. If desired you may add ½ cup water to the
bottom of the pan. You may also place aluminum foil
loosely like a tent for the first 1 to 1 ½ hours. Remove
the tent so that the turkey is allowed to brown. For
food safety, it is better to cook stuffing separately in
a casserole dish. Be sure the temperature reaches 165°F.
Sometimes turkeys have a "pop-up" temperature indicator.
However, it is recommended that you test the temperature
with your own food thermometer in several different
places.
