Quick Answers...
How do I protect my home from electrical surges and lightning strikes?
With the increase in home electronics growing rapidly,
it pays to protect against sudden outages. A good way to
protect your home is with a whole-house surge protector.
To protect your home computer, consider an
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) that would allow your
system to run off a battery for a few minutes, giving
you valuable time to save work and shut down properly in
the event of an outage.
For more information about home surge protection, see the How Stuff Works website. Type "how surge protectors work" into the search engine located on the home page.
