What is MyPlate?

 

MyPlate iconThe United States Department of Agriculture has released MyPlate as a new tool to help families eat healthfully. Based on the 2010 Dietary Guidelines, MyPlate is a quick and easy guide for families to be able to quickly build a healthy meal.

 

The MyPlate icon is a plate divided into four sections representing vegetables, fruit, grains and protein. The size of each section represents the proportion of each to include on your plate. There is also a small circle at the top right of the plate as a reminder to include a dairy option, commonly milk.
