Quick Answers

I'm having problems baking bread. Why is it heavy and compact?

If your homemade bread is heavy and compact, it may be due to one of the following reasons:

  • too much flour added;
  • dough not allowed to rise long enough; or
  • certain flours create heavier products than all white flour (rye, whole wheat).
