Quick Answers...
Why is my child showing negative
behavior?
Negativism is more common at times when children are becoming more independent, such as ages 1 ½ - 3 yrs., 9-11 yrs., and the mid-late teens. Negativism also increases when a child is adjusting to changes like the arrival of a new sibling, a move, or divorce. Negative behavior is also more likely to occur when more is expected of a child than he/she is capable of doing.
